Fabio Ciquera covers the Milan shows during fashion week

Day One & Two at Milan Men's Fashion Week

The theme of this fashion week seems to be attention to detail, and more specifically, to the codes and colours of each brand. It also transpired that each designer was focusing on creating collections that will last more than one season, which was the case at Jil Sander, Costume National and Burberry Prorsum. There is always a big effort from designers to show their collections in unique environments. Angela Missoni showed her interpretation of tweeds and reversible jackets at Fonderia Napoleonica, a foundry unique for its atmosphere rooted in history. Swarovski, in collaboration with leading menswear designers, recreated a gentleman's club in the magnificent Palazzo Clerici, everything was meticulously realised from the casino to the smoking room, while Thom Browne over at Moncler Gamme Bleu put on a grand show with a clever, ironic and iconic collection, this time inspired by the British passion for hunting (the beagles seemed to enjoy the attention the most).

Apart from the pristine collections Milan is also about the people and places, certain bars and restaurants with such intimate capacities means i can catch up with friends that i seldom see. Last night i attended a dinner organised at Bistrot da Giamcomo, the latest Milanese hang out for the fashion crowd. We were celebrating a birthday but the room was packed with fashion editors, busy tasting one of the best pappa al pomodoro I have ever eaten and reminiscing over the highlights of the past few days.
