Art and fashion, hand in hand again. Frieze Art Fair week has become a great platform for fashion houses to remind us of the tight bonds that exists between the two fields. Thursday night we celebrated the new home of the Design Museum at a dinner staged in the former Commonwealth Institute. John Pawson, who was commissioned to design the interior of the new museum and Deyan Sudjic, the director of the Design Museum, played hosts along with Calvin Klein Collection’s Creative Directors, Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli. Mr. Pawson has transformed the space and created an immersive experience for guests, providing a preview of the future site. The plans to bring this building back to life are remarkable. The surrounding development will be the vision of Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and completion is due in 2014.

I spent most of the evening chatting with Jane Bruton, editor-in-chief of Grazia, discussing the fact that it was the first time that either of us had been inside this amazing building. Our small group grew bigger when we were joined by Katie Grand of Love magazine. Bizarrely enough, the subject changed to knees and how each one of us had a specific issue with them; Katie indicated that she hated hers and how she must cover them at all time. I reciprocated by saying that mine are very sensitive and I hate having them touched. The power of champagne…
