Guest blogger: Vauxhall Fashion Scout

It's the last day of our seven-day Takeover and what a week it's been! We've given you an exclusive insight into the studio of Spring/ Summer Merit Award winner, Heohwan Simulation; the first-hand scoop on what it takes to be selected for a VFS showcase from panel members Jessica Bumpus of Vogue, and Tui Lin of Pop; and a look into our history with VFS founder, Martyn Roberts. After all that, it only seems right to leave you with a look into those making up the VFS team.

So here's an inside-look into who we are, what we do, and what we do when it's all over. Starting with a memory from Event Manager, and Talent Scout, Charlotte Gunstone on a moment that's stuck throughout our six year history: The Central Saint Martins MA Show in 2009 produced a number of VFS talents, but the moment David Koma’s collection came down the catwalk we knew a star was born. Working with designers like David is what we enjoy most. He knew what he wanted to do and we ensured that he had every resource to make it happen.

Its important that designers are given both the creative freedom and support to develop viable businesses. David’s collections and creative talent have propelled him into the fashion spotlight, and after two seasons as the VFS Merit Award, he was awarded a spot with the BFC’s NEWGEN initiative. We couldn’t be happier!

Vauxhall Fashion Scout also supports the work of avant-garde experimentalists; those pushing their craft through the use of innovative technology. One such designer at the fore of our thoughts, is digitalist couturier, Iris van Herpen.

Here's why she's a personal pick of Charlotte’s and why her collection is cemented in our minds: Iris was fast tracked to the fashion capital and now presents her otherworldly collections as part of Couture Fashion Week in Paris. Iris really knows how to create an atmosphere, her cinematic shows and sculptural pieces are more reminiscent to works of art. Her great attention to detail is executed through her beautifully crafted, mesmerising pieces. Iris is the true fashion architect.

Showcasing the future of British design talent during both London and Paris Fashion Week is no small feat - "We are a small team... Everyone is under a huge amount of pressure in the lead up to fashion week so its important to work together. The end result is always worth it and we love what we do!" So in the lead up to LFW here's what the Vauxhall Fashion Scout office are playing to stave off stress, and ensure our designers get a showcase that does their unique design talent justice! The VFS Office playlist, as picked by Production Manager, Cat Kinsella: The Kindness- That's Alright "We love the 80’s Prince-esque feel to this tune…"

T.E.E.D- Tapes and Money "This album was on repeat in the office for a while…until we exhausted it! This track is on a great mixtape by Swiss Lips that was featured on Dazed Digital a while ago; a great mix to get ready to go out- would be a great show track too..."

Little Boots- Headphones (Ronika Remix) "Love the disco sample in this. [We're] big fans of Little boots and disco in the office. We defiantly recommend her recently recorded radio show on 'Strongroom Alive' radio for any electro fiends out there…"

Summer Camp- City "We’re big fans of the label Moshi Moshi- expect to hear more from both Moshi Moshi, and Summer Camps recent EP on our exhibition playlists this season..."

Whitney Houston vs. Kraftwerk "Interesting to see all of the posthumous remixes that have emerged since Whitney passed- love Whitney; love Kraftwerk; together… incredible stuff!"

And then it's all hands on deck! Thank you for following our Browns-blog Takeover. Thank you to Browns for featuring us too. #VFS @FashionScout
