Introducing: 1205 by Paula Gerbase

We can't wait to receive Paula Gerbase's new collection. Functional, minimal luxe is the code for AW13 - and always. Gerbase's designs are characterised by her use of tactile fabrics, contrasting tones and textures, and a penchant for a muted palette. For the new season, the designer was inspired by a collection of 'Recits de Voyage' by a Swiss journalist and photographer travelling through the Middle East, U.S.A and Europe in the 1930's and 40's.

We had a quick catch up with the burgeoning designer to find out more about her, her collection, and the ethos behind her brand.

Browns: Who is the 1205 woman?
PG: An intelligent, individual woman who is looking for thoughtful, high quality, functional clothing with integrity and subtle detailing.

Browns: How would you describe your personal style?
PG: I have always loved wearing menswear as the focus on detail, fabric and construction are qualities that have always been important to me. With the 1205 collection these are really my focus, and so generally I will wear my uniform of wide legged ankle grazing trousers, usually paired with one of our jersey sweatshirts or a merino knit, and my favourite biker jacket or a knitted shawl collar blazer.

Browns: If I wasn't talking to you right now, what would you be doing?
PG: I would be at one of our factories or workshops working with the technicians on the construction of the new Spring | Summer 2014 collection - workshop/factory environments are where I feel most at home.
